Writing Effective Copy for your Website

Recently, we re-wrote the copy or content for a local real estate agent as a result of our discussion about writing effectively for the web and gaining the most from your website by carefully using the keywords or phrases that the major search engines will find as a result of a search request. Let me show you an example of a page we re-wrote for his Real Estate BUYER page...
Buying a Home in Savannah
"When you’re buying a home in Savannah, there are a lot of options to consider. First of all, where in Savannah do you want to be? Does the historic district appeal to you, with its cobblestone streets, oak-lined squares, and southern charm? Or how about the Islands, with their waterfront views, secluded lots, and familiar faces?
Once you’ve decided ‘where’ you want to live in Savannah, you need to decide ‘who’ will help you reach this goal. Make sure you select a Broker with a successful track record who will look out for your best interests. You should be confident that whoever you select will assist you in aggressively negotiating the price of your home, as well as being knowledgeable about securing financing for your purchase. And you can never put a price on old-fashioned common sense."
Now, you are probably thinking what makes this writing difference from what he had initially? A very good question and the answer is that (1) we used the keywords in the text that we used in the source code, ie: "Savannah, Islands, historic district, waterfront and others". Writing to your keywords is a critical factor in getting your website found and ranked on the major search engines.
Writing great copy for your website takes work and editing but if you do it correctly, you will appreciate the results!
